Commenting on other people's posts and blogs is very important. It is important because it helps create a sense of community and interaction. It does this by the simple fact that two or more people are communication, causing the interaction, these people are also bonding over a mutual interest and forming a connection. Two other important things about commenting, it helps build the blogger's self esteem to see that people are reading and interested in what they are writing about. It also can help the blogger break out of their comfort zones, if a person leaves a comment about something new that the blogger never even would have thought of. Like a second way to solve a problem.
The 5 blogs I commented on from our group were Webb's 23 Things, Ashmiller's 23 Things, A new educator's 23 Things, Andrea's Thoughts on 23 Things, and Moore to Learn.
On Webb's 23 Things I wrote about how I like the thought of having kids write down what they felt about the class, on paper, and her reflections, but it would be better if the students were they ones actually writing on the blog. I also mentioned to make sure no names are given. IT might even bee cool to give each child a nickname they can pick as their blogger name.
The second blog I commented on was Ashmiller's 23 Things. I agreed how the blog was pretty easy to make and how our avatars do reflect ourselves a little in.
A new educator's 23 Things was my third blog to comment on. On their's I said how I loved the thought of incorporating the blog into the class like that, but gave a way to make sure the whole class could be able to work on it. A way to get the student's who do not have internet access able to work on the blog by letting them work on the blog during the day, when they have finished their work. .
Andrea's Thoughts on 23 Things was number four comment. She mostly talked about how blogs can help people. I think students would be more into the blog if they were the authors and could see there work coming alive.
The last blog from our group I commented on was Moore to Learn. I said how I wished my name allowed me to be more creative when picking a name, and also how my avatar, much like hers, kinda reflects how I hope to look when I start teaching.
The two outside blogs I commented on were The Twice Remembered Cottage at twicerememebered.blogspot.com. There I commented on one of her crafts she made that I think I might make for my sister for Christmas. It was a magnetic scrabble board. The other blog I commented on was The Oak Fin: Little Scientist. It was about how to use baking soda, vinegar and food coloring to do a science experiment. I thought it was just too cool and want to do that with my little cousins one day.
